NAB is the inaugural sponsor of the AFL Women’s League

NAB is the inaugural sponsor of the exciting, new AFL Women’s League, and has extended its partnership with the AFL for a further six years.

Andrew Thorburn, NAB CEO, and Gillon McLachlan, AFL CEO, today announced the partnership with the AFL Women’s League, as well as confirming NAB’s continued support of Auskick and the AFL player pathway programs for a further six years.

Mr Thorburn said he was excited to be building on the bank’s 14-year partnership with the AFL and proud to be supporting both men’s and women’s football.

“At NAB, we value diversity and we believe in equality. I am invested in building a culture that supports women to achieve their goals; women at NAB, our customers and in the community more broadly.

“That’s why we are backing the AFL Women’s League. It gives footy fans, especially young girls and boys, inspirational role models to help nurture their passion for the game.

“We don’t just sponsor football, we grow it, and we want to make it a better game for all Australians,” Mr Thorburn said.

NAB is the naming rights partner of NAB AFL Auskick, NAB AFL Women’s League, NAB AFL Women’s Rising Star, the NAB AFL Rising Star Program and the NAB AFL Trade Period. The first NAB AFL Women’s Draft will be hosted at NAB’s head office in Melbourne tomorrow (Wednesday 12 October).

Gillon McLachlan said: “the inaugural national Women’s League announcements have captivated the sporting public this year. Women and girls now have a clear pathway to play the game from NAB AFL Auskick to the NAB AFL Women’s League.

“I thank Andrew Thorburn and his team for extending their support of NAB AFL Auskick, the NAB AFL Rising Stars Program and for being the inaugural AFL Women’s League naming rights partner.

“NAB has been, and continues to be, a great sponsor of the AFL and the game’s grassroots. NAB shares our passion to grow the game at all levels and I look forward to the exciting years ahead.”

Mr Thorburn said: “so many of our customers are passionate about AFL and it is such an important part of communities across the country. That’s why we support the programs, including NAB AFL Rising Stars and NAB AFL Auskick, which helps take boys and girls from the local oval on a Saturday morning to the elite level.”
