The first half of 2025 has brought with it a destructive string of Natural Disasters. The effect of Cyclone Alfred in late Feb and March, as well as major flooding in Central and South West Queensland and NSW across April and May continues to hit Australians and their communities hard.
NAB is proud to have provided disaster relief grants and additional financial relief to more than 3700 customers severely impacted to assist them in the immediate aftermath. Over $5 million in grants to date have now helped customers cover emergency expenses after suffering significant damage to their home, farm or business (Based on grant funding provided between 1 October 2024 and 1 June 2025).
While the incidence and severity of natural disasters is only set to continue, the need for on-the-ground help post disaster is also increasing. That’s why the NAB Foundation partners with Disaster Relief Australia (DRA) to enhance community resilience and disaster recovery across Australia. DRA is a veteran-led not-for-profit that unites the skills of veterans and volunteers from all walks of life to help communities prepare for and recover from disasters.
In response to the devastating floods that impacted South East QLD and Northern NSW Brisbane in 2022, Disaster Relief Australia and the NAB Foundation worked together to address the challenge of managing spontaneous community volunteers who came forward to offer support. And it was from this event that the idea of the NAB Foundation Recovery Crew was born – a group of everyday Australians who come together to volunteer their time and efforts to help communities get back on their feet. And now it’s your opportunity to lend a hand as part of the recovery efforts for the NSW East Coast Flood recovery.
