Local organisations across Australia can now apply for funding through NAB Foundation’s Community Grants program, with applications open until  30 September 2025.

Grants of up to $25,000 are available to support community-led projects that help prepare for or recover from natural disasters. Applicants with big potential may also be considered for an Impact Grant, which offers an additional $25,000 to up to four outstanding applications. This round will distribute  $600,000, with successful recipients to be announced in November.

Since launching in 2021, the NAB Foundation Community Grants program has supported 395 organisations with more than $5.2 million in funding. The program runs twice a year, with $1.2 million distributed annually across two rounds.

NAB Retail Executive Paul Carter said the grants continue to play a vital role in helping communities withstand and recover from natural disasters.

“Every time a natural disaster hits, it’s the local organisations who show up first and stay the longest. These grants are about helping communities with the resources they need to prepare, respond and rebuild. We’re proud to stand behind them,” Mr Carter said.

Practical support for Australian communities in need

Earlier this year, 25 organisations received funding through the program, enabling practical support for organisations like CAAPS Aboriginal Corporation and BlazeAid, whose work is helping communities rebuild and reconnect.

Scott McKeen, CEO of CAAPS, has seen the impact natural disasters have had on thousands of displaced First Nations people  in the Northern Territory. It’s often months before community members can safely restart their normal lives, so being able to add an extra dwelling to their emergency relief accommodation with the NAB Foundation Grant has been a “miracle”.

“The continued support from NAB Foundation means we can increase critical services, ensuring our community and First Nations people are provided with safety to heal and thrive,” said Mr McKeen.

Melissa Jones, CEO of BlazeAid, said their recent grant helped fund new mobile kitchens to support volunteers who are out rebuilding and restoring properties in disaster affected rural regions.

“For many farmers they struggle to see how they are going to recover. BlazeAid is there for the first step in their recovery.

“Without grants like this from NAB Foundation, we would not exist – it keeps us going.”
