When NAB Engineer Avinash Chaudary recently finished his AWS Cloud Certification, it became the 6000th cloud certification achieved through NAB’s Global Tech Academy and Cloud Guild program since it began in 2018.
As the world becomes increasing digitally-enabled, these in-demand qualifications are helping ensure NAB fosters a continuous learning environment for its technologists in order to deliver outstanding customer experiences.
NAB Group Executive Technology & Enterprise Operations Patrick Wright said engineering excellence was critical to building world-class customer experiences.
“If we want to deliver great experiences for our customers we need the best, most highly-skilled technologists in the world,” Mr Wright said.
“We have thousands technologists at NAB and I want all of them to be great engineers.
“I want them to learn as much as they can so they feel like they can contribute to solving really significant challenges that deliver better results for our customer experience.”
NAB’s Head of Global Tech Academies Paul Silver said with the pace of technology evolution continuous learning was vital.
“Our Tech Academy operates across our global teams to ensure they are supported with the training and education to aid continuous learning.
“This includes practical learning and offering a range of ways to gain hands-on experience in Cloud, Software Development, Reliability Engineering and new technologies such as GenAI tooling including Amazon Q.
“The outcome is hundreds of colleagues are gaining globally-recognised cloud certifications every single year, helping to keep our technologists at the top of their game as technology continues to evolve.”
The milestone comes as NAB embarks on ‘Engineering Month’, a series of education and training events that help foster innovative thinking, build skills and improve capabilities for its technologists.
“This year we have more than 25 events over the course of the month, ranging from external speakers, hackathons and learning sessions aimed at continued engineering excellence,” Silver said.
“We get our partners involved too including Microsoft, AWS, Udemy and others who help bring global insights and best practices.”
For Avinash, who works as a software engineer at the NAB Innovation Centre India, he is now cloud certified, ensuring he has the skills to stay at the forefront of technology evolution.
“I joined NAB in 2022 and I haven’t worked anywhere else that supports learning like we do,” Avinash said.
“Technology is moving so fast and being supported to stay up to date with the latest tools, resources and practices is crucial to being able to tackle problems effectively and build great experiences for our customers.
“Being certified provides me better understanding of the tools I’m using, helping me to work faster to solve problems and address challenges we encounter.
“The result is that I’m more confident participating in discussions, being able to offer insights and to help build better solutions for our customers.”
NAB’s Tech Academy runs a range of programs to upskill and reskill, including for those starting out or career changing into the world of tech.
