Statement regarding former banker, Andrew Matthews
The following statement can be attributed to a spokesperson for NAB:
Mr Andrew Matthews, a former mobile banker with NAB, appeared before the Melbourne Magistrates Court today, charged with conspiring to defraud NAB and obtaining property from NAB by deception.
Mr Matthews is alleged to have engaged in deceptive conduct in order to generate commissions from NAB that he financially benefitted from.
NAB identified this matter through our own internal checks and review processes. We immediately reported him to Victoria Police, and have cooperated fully with their investigations.
NAB terminated Mr Matthews’ employment in July 2016.
As this case is before the courts, we are unable to provide further comment.
This matter is separate to the announcement made on 16 November 2017.
