  • NAB launches relief measures for customers impacted by the bushfires in New South Wales and Tasmania.

  • Disaster Relief Grants of $1,000 are being made available for eligible NAB customers in impacted areas.

  • Loan deferrals, reduced repayment arrangements and extra care options available.

NAB is providing $1,000 grants and additional financial relief to customers severely impacted by the recent bushfires in parts of New South Wales and Tasmania. 

 The grants will help NAB customers who have suffered major damage to their home, property or business, cover emergency expenses. 
 
NAB Retail Executive Tony Story said a range of support measures, from grants to loan payment deferrals and other relief measures, were in place to help NAB customers impacted by the bushfires. 

“The recent bushfires across parts of New South Wales and Tasmania have had a devastating impact on many communities and businesses,” Mr Story said. 

“We know this is an incredibly difficult time, and help is available.

“Our thoughts are with everyone affected, and we are thankful for the efforts of those working to keep communities safe. We also extend our deepest sympathies following the tragic loss of a firefighter in New South Wales.”

Assistance is available for eligible NAB customers in the following local government areas:

  • New South Wales: Central Coast, Mid Coast, Upper Hunter, Muswellbrook, Warrumbungle, Lake Macquarie and Dubbo

  • Tasmania: Derwent Valley, Glenorchy, Glamorgan-Spring Bay and Southern Midlands

Further support for directly impacted NAB customers includes:

  • Loan deferral or reduced repayment arrangements for home, personal and some business loans. 

  • Hardship support for customers struggling to make minimum monthly payments on personal loans, home loans or credit cards. 

  • Deferring upcoming credit card payments. 

  • Waiving and/or refunding fees and charges, including merchant terminal fees and early access fees to term deposits.

  • Allianz is operating a dedicated Catastrophe Claims team to support NAB insurance policyholders. If you are an existing NAB insurance policyholder, you can call the Natural Disaster Claims Line on 1300 555 013. You can also lodge a claim online at any time via the Allianz Claim form

Customers affected by the bushfires can apply for a Disaster Relief Grant online. For financial hardship assistance, or if you are unable to apply online, you can call NAB on: 

  • 1800 701 599 (Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 8:00pm (AEST/AEDT), Saturday, 9:00am to 1:00pm (AEST/AEDT)) for personal customers 

  • 1300 961 577 (Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm (AEST/AEDT) for business customers; or

  • NAB messaging in the App and on Internet Banking.

All enquiries will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by the NAB Assist team to determine eligibility. Disaster Relief Grants for impacted customers will remain open until Monday, 5 January 2026.

Be aware of Frauds and Scams

During this time, customers are reminded to stay alert to potential scams. Criminals may use events like this natural disaster as an opportunity to impersonate well-known organisations including banks, insurance or telecommunication providers and government agencies. NAB will never send customers links in unexpected text messages, or ask customers for personal information like passwords or pins.
