In a time when many banks are scaling back their physical presence, NAB is doing the opposite – breathing new life into its branch network and reaffirming its commitment to face-to-face banking.

Since October last year, 100 NAB branches across Australia have undergone an upgrade, transforming familiar spaces into modern, welcoming hubs designed for deeper conversations and stronger community connections.

“This is a deliberate move to restore belief in the value of retail banking,” NAB Retail Executive Paul Carter said.

“We’re not just giving our branches a facelift – we’re investing in the people and places that make NAB what it is.

“These upgrades are about making banking easier, more personal, and more connected to the communities we serve. We see branches as community anchors, and we know that when it comes to major financial decisions, many people still want to sit down and talk to someone they trust.”

From coastal towns like South West Rocks to city suburbs like Greensborough, the upgrades are happening everywhere.

Notably, 82 of these branches are in regional Australia, reinforcing NAB’s commitment to supporting communities outside the big cities.

Greensborough, in Melbourne’s north-east, is one of the latest to get the full treatment. The branch now features a sleek new layout, improved accessibility, and spaces designed for meaningful customer conversations.

“We’ve been part of the Greensborough community for more than 50 years, and this refresh is really about showing we’re here for the long haul,” branch manager Tawfick Abdel-Khalik said.

“When customers walk in and see the effort we’ve made, it sends a clear message: NAB is committed to this community and to providing the best service we can.”

And NAB isn’t stopping at 100.

“This is just the beginning,” Mr Carter said. “We’ve got 47 additional upgrades due by October, bringing NAB’s total investment to $55 million because every community deserves a branch that’s welcoming, modern and built to support them.”
