  • HICAPS launches comprehensive GP proposition to make claiming and EFTPOS transactions faster, easier and simpler
  • Integration with leading practice management software, Best Practice, who support over 6,000 Medical Clinics across Australia.
  • Through HICAPS, NAB is the first major bank to launch this type of integration with GP software

NAB’s dedicated healthcare claiming solution, HICAPS, is making claiming, EFTPOS transactions, and reconciliations faster, simpler and easier for GPs, clinics and patients as part of a new integration with leading practice management software, Best Practice.

Australia’s leading claims solution1 provider HICAPS is now integrated into Best Practice, Bp Premier to transform the healthcare claiming experience for GPs across the country:

  • Saving time, boosting efficiency: faster Medicare Easyclaim and patient rebates to debit cards and streamlined EFTPOS transactions without switching between applications.
  • Fast and accurate: integration minimises the need for manual data entry, reduces the risk of billing errors and speeds up claim processing.
  • Better practice management: real-time updates and reporting within Best Practice, Bp Premier will support better financial management, decision making and time saving on reconciliation.
  • Better for patients: streamlining payments and claiming means shorter wait times and a smoother patient journey in reception.
  • Better business insights: comprehensive and unified reporting across both Best Practice and HICAPS platforms provides practice managers with better data.
  • Multi-merchant facilities: a single HICAPS terminal can be used for up to 50 separate healthcare providers to process claims and settle funds directly into 25 separate business bank accounts

Smoother billing, happier patients
Dani Galus, Practice Manager at Bassendean Total Health Care, said the integration has made a noticeable difference in the clinic’s operations.

“We’re seeing up to 150 patients a day and our front desk was constantly juggling phones, bookings and payments,” Ms Galus said.

“Previously, our team had to manually enter payment details from Best Practice into the HICAPS terminal – which left room for error, especially when things got busy.”

The clinic started using the HICAPS and Best Practice integration earlier this year, and Ms Galus said it’s made a noticeable difference.

“Since the integration, billing has been streamlined and more accurate. The information flows directly from the clinical software to the terminal, so our staff don’t have to re-enter anything,” she said.

“It’s saving us time, reducing mistakes and has really lifted satisfaction – not just for the team, but for patients too. Patients feel reassured when they see their Medicare rebate processed instantly. It’s helped ease the transition to private billing.”

Ms Galus said the setup process was simple and the support provided by the HICAPS team made the transition smooth.

“HICAPS were quick to respond and the support was excellent. I’d absolutely recommend the integration to other clinics.”

Leading the charge in healthcare innovation
HICAPS CEO Mark Raymer said the integration was a significant step forward for the health industry.

“This is about simplifying healthcare claiming and reconciliations for GPs so they can focus on their patients and their business,” Mr Raymer said.

“As the first big four bank to integrate a claiming and EFTPOS solutions like HICAPS with the leading practice management software, Best Practice, it’s a big step forward for the industry.

“HICAPS is providing GPs, their practices and their staff with the tools they need to operate more efficiently and effectively.

“This is a great opportunity to help our GP customers address more complex challenges and improve their customer outcomes.

We can do this by offering not just claiming solutions but holistic business solutions through our dedicated Medfin and NAB Health financial solutions.

“This announcement opens up new opportunities for future integrations with payroll solution providers.

Craig Hodges, CEO of Best Practice, echoed the importance of the collaboration.

“Customer success is at the core of Best Practice and this integration with HICAPS is another example of our commitment to helping GPs look after their patients while meeting the fast-changing needs in Australian healthcare,” Mr Hodges said.
