  • NAB invests $2.4 million to upgrade and modernise Roma branch

  • Local banking to continue during works with ‘Bank in a Box’ on Hawthorne Street

  • Refurbished branch to open in September

A major banking upgrade is coming to Roma, with NAB investing $2.4 million to transform its local branch.

NAB Roma Branch Manager Kate Jackson said the new look branch will make banking easier for the community.

“We’ve been part of the Roma community through the good seasons and the tougher ones, standing alongside our customers every step of the way,” Ms Jackson said.

“This investment is about building on that by making sure we’re here with the right support, the right facilities, and ready to keep backing locals into the future.”

The branch will temporarily close from Monday 6 July, but services won’t go far while work gets underway.

A pop-up “Bank in a Box” will be set up nearby on 18 – 24 Hawthorne Street, with the local team still on hand to support customers throughout the works.

During this time, customers will still be able to:

  • Chat face-to-face with local bankers in a private meeting space

  • Access to smart ATMs for cash withdrawals and deposits

  • Take care of everyday banking

  • Connect with specialists when needed

“Our team isn’t going anywhere. We’ve had a presence in Roma for more than 100 years, and we’ll keep being here to support our customers,” Ms Jackson said.

“We know how important it is to have someone local you can talk to, and that won’t change.

“This is about giving the Roma community a space that works better for them. Whether that’s sitting down face-to-face for a yarn, connecting with the right specialists or getting things sorted quickly with the support of new technology.

When the upgraded branch reopens in early September, it will bring business and personal banking together under one roof - creating a more flexible, modern space designed to better support the way locals bank.

Local NAB Business Executive Jason Coonan said while the branch is being upgraded, NAB’s agri bankers will still be on the road supporting the region.

“Roma plays a big role in Queensland’s agriculture sector and having the right support on the ground matters,” Mr Coonan said.

“During the refurbishment, it’s still business as usual with our local agribusiness and business bankers out and about supporting customers.

“This upgrade means locals - from graziers and growers to small business owners - can keep having those face-to-face conversations they value, with a team that understands the region.”
