  • NAB launches relief measures for customers impacted by the flooding in Katherine

  • $1,000 grants are being made available for eligible NAB customers in the impacted area

  • Disaster grants also activated for NSW severe weather event in January

NAB is providing $1,000 grants and additional financial relief to customers impacted by the recent flooding in Katherine in the NT.

The grants will help NAB customers who have suffered major damage to their home, property or business, cover emergency expenses. 

NAB Executive Beata Brennan said the bank was focused on providing fast, practical support to customers affected by the floods.

“Katherine communities are facing the toughest flooding in almost three decades, and the effects will last well beyond the immediate event,” Ms Brennan said.

“We know people need support now. That’s why we’re providing $1,000 Disaster Relief Grants to help cover immediate essentials like accommodation, clothing and food, alongside measures such as loan repayment deferrals and fee waivers to help ease financial pressure during this challenging time.”

NAB has also activated its Disaster Relief Grants for customers impacted by the severe storms in the Northern Beaches, Bega Valley and Bellingen LGAs in January.

Disaster Relief Grants for impacted customers will remain open until 7th of April. Customers in these are who have been affected by the floods or severe weather can apply* online. For financial hardship assistance, or if you are unable to apply online, you can call NAB on:

  • 1800 701 599 (Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 8:00pm (AEST/AEDT), Saturday, 9:00am to 1:00pm (AEST/AEDT)) for personal customers 

  • 1300 961 577 (Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm (AEST/AEDT)) for business customers; or

  • NAB messaging in the App and on Internet Banking.

Further support is available for NAB customers directly impacted, including:

  • Loan deferral or reduced repayment arrangements for home, personal and some business loans. 

  • Hardship support for customers struggling to make minimum monthly payments on personal loans, home loans or credit cards. 

  • Deferring upcoming credit card payments. 

  • Waiving and/or refunding fees and charges, including merchant terminal fees and early access fees to term deposits.

  • Allianz is operating a dedicated Catastrophe Claims team to support NAB insurance policyholders. If you are an existing NAB insurance policyholder, you can call the Natural Disaster Claims Line on 1300 555 013. You can also lodge a claim online at any time via the Allianz Claim form.

 

Be aware of Fraud and Scams

During this time, customers are reminded to stay alert to potential scams. Criminals may use events like this natural disaster as an opportunity to impersonate well-known organisations including banks, insurance or telecommunication providers and government agencies. NAB will never send customers links in unexpected text messages, or ask customers for personal information like passwords or pins.
