National Australia Bank has announced a number of initiatives to support customers and communities impacted by the bushfires in South Australia.

Its disaster relief package offers a number of measures available for bushfire affected customers. In addition, it has established the South Australian Bushfires NAB Community Relief Fund to provide small grants to local community organisations that have lost infrastructure and/or assets in the fires, or are directly servicing the needs of fire impacted communities.

“Our thoughts are with all of our customers and employees in the impacted areas. We are here to support customers, employees and communities during what has been a scary start to the year,” said Gregg Harris, General Manager of Retail in South Australia.

“Anyone who needs assistance or advice can contact us so we can discuss their circumstances with them and work out the best way to help.”

On Sunday NAB made disaster relief measures available for bushfire affected customers in South Australia including:

  • Suspending home and personal loan repayments
  • Waiving costs and charges for withdrawing term deposits early
  • Waiving home loan and personal loan fees and charges
  • Credit card and personal loan relief where appropriate
  • Support for business banking customers to restructure other existing bank facilities
  • Provision of support and counselling through NAB’s Employee Assistance Program

A range of community organisations are eligible for the South Australian Bushfires NAB Community Relief Fund, including food banks, welfare charities, community assistance programs, animal shelters, local CFS teams, restoration and resilience building initiatives, and sports clubs. Grants of up to $10,000 are available to help community groups as they start the recovery and rebuilding process. Community organisations can visit a NAB store or talk to a NAB banker for more information on how to apply for a South Australian Bushfires NAB Community Relief Fund grant.

Customers seeking further assistance and advice should contact NAB Care on 1800 701 599. Business customers should contact their banker.
