National Australia Bank Chief Executive Officer Andrew Thorburn today announced changes to the NAB Executive Leadership Team.

Anthony Healy, currently Managing Director and CEO of Bank of New Zealand, has been appointed Chief Customer Officer – Business and Private Banking.

Angela Mentis, currently Chief Customer Officer – Business and Private Banking, has been appointed Managing Director and CEO of Bank of New Zealand.

Mr Thorburn said: “NAB’s strategy is to become the most respected bank in Australia and New Zealand. This means being the best business bank in our Australian business, while continuing to drive growth of the New Zealand offering which resonates so well with its customers there.

“The leadership changes are a great opportunity for two of NAB’s talented executives to take our strategy forward. Angela and Anthony are outstanding banking executives who have a clear understanding of what is needed to deliver a great customer experience.

“They are highly regarded by their customers and colleagues and, having worked with them both closely, I know they share a desire to make a lasting contribution to NAB and the broader community.

“This is an exciting challenge for Anthony, who is returning to his native Australia. The Business and Private Banking Division has renewed focus, discipline and consistency under Angela’s leadership, improving customer focus, delivering strong results and setting a solid foundation for future growth.

“Anthony’s passion for people, deep understanding of business owners’ needs in good times and bad, and leadership in creating programs that contribute to the community means he is well placed to build on the solid foundation.

“Leading BNZ is an equally exciting opportunity for Angela, who becomes the first female CEO in the company’s history. Having served as a director of BNZ since December 2016, Angela knows the bank and its strategy well and her relentless customer focus will ensure BNZ remains focused on delivering for customers, shareholders and employees.”

The appointments, which are subject to regulatory approval, are effective January 1, 2018.
