NAB CEO Ross McEwan this week wrote to NAB customers, letting them know about the support available to them if they are in financial difficulty due to COVID-19 lockdowns.
With much of the country now in lockdown, some of our customers have lost income and are in financial difficulty. This is through no fault of their own.
If you are in this situation, we are here to help. I’m writing to make sure you know what financial support we can offer you. If you, or anyone you know who banks with us, needs financial support from NAB, we will do what we can to help. Everyone’s situation is different, so support starts with a conversation. Financial support available
It can feel overwhelming but financial difficulty can be managed. It’s important that you contact us as soon as you start to struggle. Our options for supporting you include:
- Temporarily reducing payments on loans or credit cards
- Giving you a temporary payment break on loans or credit cards
- Consolidating debt where appropriate
- Waiving fees and charges to withdraw term deposits early
- Free professional and confidential counselling
Accessing this kind of support won’t affect your credit rating or credit score, so please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Banking is an essential service, so our branches remain open although some are on reduced hours to support our colleagues as they also manage the impacts of COVID. Our teams are doing everything they can to make sure those environments are safe, with strict check-ins and mask-wearing. All our ATMs are operating and are regularly cleaned and disinfected.
With NAB Internet Banking and the NAB app, you can access your banking from home. You can learn more about the safe and secure ways you can bank and manage your money online on our website. Our call centres are operating as normal, and our colleagues are well prepared to have conversations about financial support for customers affected by lockdowns.
