Ring in the joy: NAB colleagues answer the call to take Carols by Candlelight donations

More than 50 NAB colleagues will be taking donation calls for the annual Carols by Candlelight telecast this year, marking the fifth year the bank has been involved in Vision Australia’s biggest fundraiser.

NAB colleagues from the personal bank contact centre, retail branches, business bank, technology teams and more will be the friendly voices on the other end of the phone for Australians who wish to dig deep and call in their generous donation.

NAB Head of Customer Experience Bree Marendaz, who’ll be taking calls, said it’s a heart-warming way to help Vision Australia raise vital funds.

“Our teams love being part of this iconic event which is why many of our colleagues come back year after year to take calls, give back and spread the festive cheer,” Ms Marendaz said.

“Last year we took nearly 1,000 donation calls totalling more than $100,000 which is about 14% of the total money raised last year – we’re thrilled to be able to play our part.”

NAB’s call systems are provided free-of-charge to Vision Australia on the night and NAB colleagues – who normally take customer banking enquiries – volunteer their time on Christmas Eve to take donation calls for those who wish to call or may be unable to navigate the online donation form.

“Our people will be ready to take your call on Christmas Eve – and we’ll be doing it from either our office in Docklands or at home while we’re wrapping presents,” Ms Marendaz said.

While the cost of living has been a concern this year, Ms Marendaz was confident Australians would still dig deep to raise vital funds while they enjoyed the telecast and Australia’s top performers sing their favourite carols.

“We know some people may be feeling the pinch, and it’s incredible Australians are still so generous at Christmas time because they know the importance of the work Vision Australia does.”

“Even the smallest donation can go a long way and we find many Australians call to speak to someone they know and trust, especially if they’re feeling a little more isolated or lonely at this time of year.”

The NAB phone room will open at 8pm and Australians can call 1800 422 077, as well as using the online donation form at givetocarols.com, to donate.
