NAB celebrates its second year of sponsoring the NAB AFL Women’s competition, with today’s launch of a new campaign, History in the Making.

History in the Making recognises the opportunity for players and fans to be part of history – capturing how every moment, every play, and every result will go down in the record books.

The campaign is brought to life through the use of VFL and AFL match footage from the 1960s, 70s and 80s, transporting the viewer through each of the eras – with a twist.

Using special effects, the original players from the different eras have been replaced with today’s AFLW stars Daisy Pearce, Darcy Vescio, and Katie Brennan. The film finishes in the current era, with Sabrina Frederick-Traub creating a moment of history.

Melbourne Demons AFLW player and NAB ambassador, Daisy Pearce, believes the campaign captures the power of the NAB AFLW competition.

“NAB has been a long-time supporter of football, and their commitment to the NAB AFLW is testament to this,” Ms Pearce said.

“It is an honour to be part of the 2018 campaign which highlights the ability of the NAB AFLW to create sporting history.”

Katie Brennan, Western Bulldogs AFLW player, praised NAB for supporting the next generation of young footballers.

“It is great to see NAB continuing to back and develop the NAB AFLW competition,” Ms Brennan said.

“Growing up, it was my dream to play at an elite level, and now girls all around Australia have that opportunity.”

Last year, NAB supported over 200,000 NAB AFL Auskickers playing football in local communities around Australia, and backed the trailblazing women who were the first to play football at an elite level in the NAB AFLW competition.

NAB Chief Marketing Officer, Andrew Knott, said the 2018 AFLW campaign captures what it means for NAB, fans, and the players to be a part of history in the making.

“We are excited to be a part of more Aussie history in the making and are incredibly proud of backing the AFLW so we can support all footy players’ dreams of making it to the big time,” Mr Knott said.

For those who want to truly immerse themselves in the campaign, a Snapchat filter will enable fans to reimagine themselves as a footballer from a past era, with one available for each of the eight AFLW clubs.

NAB has partnered with the AFL since 2002, proudly becoming the inaugural naming rights sponsor for the NAB AFLW’s competition in 2017. NAB also sponsors NAB AFL Auskick, NAB AFL Academy, and NAB AFL Rising Star. The campaign launches on Friday 2 February 2018.
