12 days of festive fun

The holiday season is officially upon us and NAB is celebrating with gift ideas from businesses across Australia.

For the next 12 days – starting December 1 – NAB will feature 12 great Australian businesses with products that will inspire you to get through your festive shopping list.

We are proud to be the bank of choice for these small businesses and we look forward to a prosperous new year ahead with all of the businesses that we back.

#1 Little Potion Co

We are kicking off NAB’s Gift Guide with a gift for the young and young at heart!

Little Potion Co has developed a unique potion making kit for those wanting to create their own magical tradition this Christmas.

The company was created by two sisters, Alicia and Jacinta, three years ago when their kids started asking for ‘potion kits’. The duo couldn’t find anything like it on the market so decided to create their own.

“Christmas is such a magical time of year for many families, and we find this time of the year especially important to our business. It’s a time to focus on gratitude – being in the moment and family connection – and this is what our product is all about. Our intention is to inspire the young minds who play with our products.”

Alicia and Jacinta, Founders of Little Potion Co.

Top gift recommendation, as chosen by the Little Potion Co team: ‘Enchanted Garden Mindful Potion Kit’.

All of their products are handmade in Melbourne, using non-toxic ingredients and bio glitter. Take a look at their website – www.thelittlepotionco.com.au

#3 The Bod Society

Today’s gift idea comes from The Bod Society. The family run business has been operating since February 2018 with the goal of creating a sustainable beauty brand after a family member became unwell.

The team set out to create a brand that is not only good for our skin, mind and body but for our mother earth. From personal experiences and values, the team are passionate about having environmentally friendly packaging.

#4 Ookkie

Founded in 2016 by Aussie Dad, Daniel De Gaye, the Ookkie learner skateboard was created with one goal in mind – to get children skateboarding earlier.

As a skateboarder himself, Daniel wanted to teach his son how to ride a board safely whilst also developing fundamental balance, stability and confidence. The idea of Ookkie was brought to life.

“We got our son a skateboard as a gift, but we found it super hard for him to get involved with the board, so I ended up pulling him along one day. He wasn’t enjoying it at that moment, and then I had the idea that I needed to push him without holding him.

“Christmas is a very busy time of year for us at Ookkie! We find so many parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, brothers, sisters, friends and everyone in-between love to gift the Ookkie for a special little one in their life. The Ookkie skateboard progresses with the child as their skills develop, making it such a great gift as it’s not a product that is used once and thrown away. Something we know all parents love!”

– Daniel De Gaye, Founder of Ookkie Skateboards

The Ookkie can be purchased online at www.ookkie.com

#10 Sheet Society

For someone who needs a comfy, good night sleep, look at gifting some dreamy sheets by Sheet Society.

Sheet Society was born out of a passion to “make the bed better” and to shake up an industry that the team felt had hit snooze on innovation, trend and customer centricity. The company has been operating for five years, and whilst they’re now seen as a market-leading brand in Australia, they are only just getting started!

The holiday season is important to the team because Sheet Society is all about community – their team, their customers and their partners.

“As a parent of two young children, and coming into the busiest time of the year, I think the best gift you can give someone is a great night’s sleep. For me, that’s a night sleeping in our new Leo Washed Cotton. It’s a relaxed pre-washed cotton fabric that feels as comfortable as it looks.”

– Hayley Worley, Co-Founder and CEO of Sheet Society

#11 DrinksPlinks

Introducing DrinksPlinks – a great stocking filler, a ‘thank you for hosting dinner’ present and general great gift idea for anyone who likes to keep cool.

Drinks Plinks make ice cube trays in different bold shapes, sizes and letters to add a fun to drinks at home.

How it started? Tania Brocker was enjoying a Gin & Tonic at home on the couch (during the Melbourne lockdown) when she noticed that it wasn’t long before the ice melted diluting her G&T.

Being a curious soul and an entrepreneur, Tania started researching and discovered that there was a genuine gap in the market to develop large ice cubes that melted slowly to chill drinks, not dilute them. She spent the next few months (still in lockdown) designing the initial range and sourcing manufacturers and designers.

How it’s going? That hard work paid off though and DrinksPlinks was born.

“2022 has been a huge year for business growth. We’ve just produced ice cube trays in all the letters of the alphabet and the stock has arrived in time for Christmas. It’s the perfect Kris Kringle present under $25 and means everyone can personal-ice their drink. It’s a game changer for our business.”

– Tania Brocker, Founder of DrinksPlinks

The top gift recommendation, as chosen by Tania, the ‘Letter G Ice Cube Tray’. Perfect gift for gin lovers, Granny, George, Grace and the Grahams!

You can purchase your own DrinksPlinks ice trays at www.drinksplinks.com (sign up to PlinksMail for 15% off your first order).

#12 St Ali Coffee Roasters

When it comes to specialty coffee in Australia, ST. Ali was one of the pioneers who put Melbourne specialty coffee on the map – to this day they continue to innovate.

Since inception in 2005, ST. ALi has been an industry leader in direct relationships with farmers, in-house roasting, expert coffee brewing and their South Melbourne café is loved by all.

Top gift recommendation as chosen by St Ali co-CEO Lachlan Ward: St Ali Coffee Liqueur.

Why not get caffeinated with your cocktails? Wide Awake coffee meets Australian vodka for this first of its kind, specialty coffee liqueur. Roasted in Melbourne and distilled in Australia, it’s the perfect pairing for a Coffee Negroni, Tiramisu or maybe even a White Russian.

“The festive season is an opportunity to take the time to be grateful for the year and celebrate those we love and care about.  This Coffee Liqueur is the first of its kind and a sensory journey of flavours.”

– Lachlan Ward, Co-CEO.

You can see the full range from St Ali on their website or through their stores.
