NAB is seeing unprecedented activity on our digital channels as customers flock to do their shopping online this Christmas.
Todd Copeland, General Manager NAB Digital said the Christmas season usually led to an increase in online shopping, but this year records are being broken.
“A new daily record for NAB Internet Banking logins was set last week, with consecutive days of around 1.75 million customers logging in via desktop and or a mobile device,” said Mr Copeland.
“We expect this activity to continue, with Thursday 18 December – the last Thursday before Christmas – expected to see over 2 million logins in to Internet Banking for the first time.”
NAB expects to see the same record activity in stores, with Tuesday 23 December set to be the peak shopping day with a record 9.5 million ATM, EFTPOS, debit and credit card transactions predicted to be processed through NAB’s systems.
Customers are expected to be shopping at close to a rate of 250 transactions per second on Christmas Eve, which would be the highest peak transactions rate ever recorded.
NAB recently made Mobile Internet Banking more intuitive and accessible for customers.
“Customers can now do all their banking in one place with NAB’s peer-to-peer payments app NAB Flik integrated in to Mobile Internet Banking, making it easier for customers to send and receive money securely to friends.
