National Australia Bank (NAB) has thrown its support behind relief efforts for the people of Vanuatu following Tropical Cyclone Pam.

NAB will mobilise a number of their call centre staff to take donation calls for Australian Red Cross as they partner with the ABC’s #WithVanuatu appeal today.

Tropical Cyclone Pam, now regarded as the worst natural disaster in the history of Vanuatu, saw a category five storm hit Vanuatu on Saturday, with more than 100,000 people now in urgent need of first aid, shelter, healthcare, clean water and sanitation facilities.

NAB Head of Community Engagement, Rebecca Kotow said the bank was proud to work with its community partners and customers to help communities in need.

“The people of Vanuatu are in desperate need of basic human essentials like shelter, healthcare, food and clean water. This appeal will help to get these critical services out to where they are needed most.

“Sharing the call load is the right thing to do and we are keen to answer the calls of the Australian public looking to donate to this important relief effort” she said.

On Monday NAB announced it will collect donations through its branch network and internet banking channel for the Save the Children Cyclone Pam Emergency Response Appeal to help children and families devastated by this natural disaster.

Donations to support Cyclone Pam relief efforts can be made through the following channels.
