NAB statement regarding ASIC detailed statement of claim on BBSW court action

National Australia Bank Group Chief Risk Officer David Gall today issued the following statement:

We are focused on serving our customers and ensuring our culture reflects the high standards and integrity the community expects of us. Doing the right thing by our customers is core to our values at NAB. We also don’t condone inappropriate language.

“ASIC’s detailed statement of claim refers to a number of emails, instant chat messages and telephone conversations involving our employees. NAB retains this information as part of our business processes.

“As we have said, we do not agree with ASIC’s claims, which means they will now be settled by the Federal Court process.

“As this matter is now before the court, it is not appropriate to comment further,” Mr Gall said.
